1950's Vintage Ice Crusher Restoration
In this video I restore a vintage ice crushing machine from the 1950s.
After dismantling I start by sandblasting the corrosion with 70 grit black aluminum oxide. I then file down any imperfections and repair a crack with aluminum weld. The inside is then powder coated flat black and the outside is powder coated Tiffany blue.
The next step was to remake the missing handle. I used spare parts I could find in the shop to construct the new handle. This thing crushes ice with ease!

Pool Fountain Spout Restoration

In this video my friend sent me his pool scuppers to be restored. I had to try different techniques to get the original brushed metal finish. Using white vinegar I was able to patina the scuppers by placing the scuppers above the vinegar in a sealed container. This allowed a chemical reaction that left the finish a beautiful finish. I hope you guys enjoy, if you do leave a like and a comment. S...
Axe Restoration and Customization | Dr Restoration

In this video I restore customize an antique hewing axe. I start by removing the handle and then dipping the axe head into an electrolysis bath to remove the rust. Next I sandblast the axe head. I found the shape to be a bit boring so I decided to shape the axe head into a small battle axe shape with a spike on the back. Once the axe head was complete i carved a handle out of purple heart and t...

In this video I restore a vintage popcorn maker from the 1950's. The Corn Pop-o-mat was an Arted product from NY that used 250 watts to heat an element to pop delicious popcorn. First I disassemble the parts, then sandblast and powder coat the body of the appliance with high gloss red RD03. All the other parts get a good cleaning with some of them being nickel plated. I hope you guys enjoy, if ...

Rusted and Dented Helmet Restoration

In this video I restore a Finnish M40 WWII helmet. This helmet is very dented with a lot of surface rust. I start with disassembly and then use a least tester to determine that the paint contains lead. I proceed with using paint stripper as sandblasting lead paint is very dangerous and damaging. Once all the paint is removed I sandblast the rust away to bare metal. I wanted to keep the leather ...

@@DrRestoration huh... i did this experiment but with copper acetate solution and gasses formed at the cathode (negative) but not at the anode... what could it be? (The electrolyte was made with the classic 1:1 vinegar - H-peroxide combination then the copper and finally a bit of table salt for conductivity)

Do not ever again take pre ww2, ww2 or post ww2 helmets that have original paint and/or other original like liner and destroy it. There might be many helmets but its history and none should be destroyed. You should ve ashamed and learn, dont just do this again, please.

Сделано как то неряшливо. Спуск не доведён и поверхность самого топорища не доведена до конца. Из достоинств только рукоять. А тыкву я и куском рельса разрубить могу.

  • @mannihh5274

Beautiful work of art - as you changed the scales it's a restomod now. Sadly you didn't make a true double stitch on that sheath, would have made it look more even and nicer, and no grooving of the stitching line, which would make the thread sink beyond the leather surface and protect it against abrasion - overall, the sheath doesn't match the knife in make and finish. These knives were made to finish off wounded deer or other larger animals, the folding design to save space and make it less unwieldy - stabbing into the heart requires not much force, so the weak pivot gives no issues, but the massive blade was never ment for hard work like slashing or chopping, be careful.

I actually wasn't gona coment on your post. But nice work and more importantly. Tnks for the grit chart. I have never seen anyone else do this. But to be fair. Most people that watch a resteration are already knowlegeable about all that and more.

Great job as always. FYI my grandfather showed me how to see how sharp your knife is. You slant your thumb at an angle and put the knife blade on the nail. If the knife slips, it's dull, but if your knife sticks it's sharp. I'm an old man now but I never forgot.
